War Era Map of Savannah

Map of Coastline Near Savanna, 1856

One document found in Mr. Ellis' records was a map of St. Simons Sound and Brunswick Harbor, near Savanna, GA, dated 1856. The map is apparently a sailing map and details depths and tides along this coast. This map may have been used during the war. Although we do not know if this was used as a battle map, it was retained by Capt. Ellis with his other war records for some reason. Its wear also suggests it was carried around for a long period of time.
